Inform yourself now about stays abroad in WS 24/25

Students who are considering a stay abroad in the coming winter semester should start planning now at the latest.

Find out if your department is offering an information event and take advantage of the advisory services offered by the International Coordinators in your department and by the International Office. 

If you are planning to study at a partner university, you should look into the courses on offer and the financing options at an early stage. We have also compiled a lot of useful information on our website.

Counselling on going abroad - Open office hours in Rheinbach

The Outgoing Team of the International Office cordially invites all Rheinbach students to open office hours at the International Office Rheinbach (Egermannstr. 1, room 1309). No matter if you are already planning a stay abroad and have questions about application procedures or financing possibilities, or if you would like to get general information about the possibilities of a study stay or an internship: Come by and let us assist you.

This winter semester, the open office hours will take place every two weeks on Mondays from 09:30-12:30. Individual appointments in the afternoon are also possible by arrangement. The upcoming dates are: 13.11.23, 27.11.23, 11.12.23, 15.01.24.

Of course, you are also welcome to arrange an individual appointment with us in Sankt Augustin, by telephone or by video conference. Please contact us.

Study Buddy evening in St. Augustin on 15 November

All international students and their study buddies are invited to an international evening on 15 November 2023.

In addition to drinks, some good food and fun games, you will also have the opportunity to get to know each other better and make new friends from all over the world.

We have already sent you an invitation by email. If you have missed the registration deadline, please send us your registration immediately.

Fulbright travel grants for the USA

The Fulbright Travel Grant supports study projects at partner universities with a travel allowance of 2,000 euros. At the same time, it connects Fulbright scholarship holders and accompanies them on their journey across the Atlantic.

Applications are open to Master's students who will continue/finish their studies at a German university after completing their studies in the USA, as well as Bachelor's students who have successfully completed at least four semesters of study before admission to the USA and who will continue/finish their Bachelor's programme at the German university after completing their studies in the USA.

Applications for study visits to the USA in the academic year 2024-25 can be submitted from 1 November 2023 to 1 February 2024 via the online application form for the travel scholarship programme.

For two months with scholarship to Japan in summer

The JSPS Summer Programme offers advanced graduate students in Master's programmes who are pursuing a doctorate, doctoral students who can provide proof of formal acceptance as a doctoral candidate and post-doctoral students who completed their doctorate no more than 6 years ago the opportunity to receive an orientation on Japanese culture and the research system for the period from 18.06. to 27.08.2024.

Applications must be submitted to the DAAD by 18.11.2023.

Development policy exchange and commitment with ASA

If you are interested in international exchange and commitment and want to contribute your knowledge and ideas for a fairer world, then the ASA programme qualifies you to recognize and shape global connections.

A three- or six-month project phase takes you to a country in Africa, Asia, Latin America or South-East Europe, where you will get to know new perspectives on your specialist or professional field.

The application platform is open from 1.12.2023. Applications are possible until 20.1.2024.

Application deadline extended for John F. Kennedy Memorial Fellowships 2024/2025

The application deadline for this programme has been extended until 10.11.2023.

It is aimed at scientists with a doctorate who do not hold a professorship.

Up to three fellowships are awarded once a year.

Funding is provided to conduct a research project at the Center for European Studies (CES) at Harvard University. Fellows are expected to participate in CES activities and programmes.

The fellowship is awarded for a duration of 10 months (01.09.2024 to 30.06.2025); an extension of the stay by 2 months without additional funding is possible.
